Manor Farm - Twyford
Radical fresh thinking produced an outcome that surpassed the original plans for this 16th century barn.
Planning approval was in place to convert it into seven closely set houses, substantially altering its historic characteristics.
Our new concept was to restore the L-shaped barn and build nine new houses adjacent to it, creating a square. As a result, the barn's integrity is preserved, providing storage and garaging, and the houses have greater space and privacy.
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings praised this scheme as a sound alternative to the usual conversion - the building's form is maintained yet it has a sustainable new use.
