Materials & Details
The textural qualities and variation of both natural and hand-crafted materials add immeasurably to the beauty of our surroundings.
Combining traditional materials and detailing with cutting-edge design strengthens the link between new buildings and the historic cores of our towns and villages. It also enhances the visual environment for generations.
Many traditional materials can be re-used or recycled. Often they are produced close to their points of use, so reducing the carbon footprint of building construction.
The pictures on the right give you a flavour of the materials and components we use. These range from the rough-hewn texture of split stone slates, through hand-made plain clay tiles, to the precision of traditionally crafted lead work, green oak frames and the super-slick appeal of stainless steel and glass.
