Grade II Manor House
BACKGROUND
A Grade II Manor House located in Pewsey Vale. The house dates from the 1670's although the elevations were extensively remodelled in the 1780's, it is this work that is most evident today. Internal alterations have also taken place on a regular basis throughout its history. A small number of these were ill-advised and the cause of some concern, requiring attention in order to stabilize the house for another generation.
THE PROJECT
As well as the major restoration of the house, part of the project was to remove a 1960's flat-roofed extension and replace it with a new kitchen, taking full advantage of the views of the surrounding garden.
Chimney defects, spalling roof tiles and failing leadwork were all repaired. Previous internal alterations had weakened the roof structure and the re-tiling allowed these defects to be discreetly repaired.
