Outstanding Work To An Existing Building

Our office project started with the restoration and reinstatement to its original form, of the exterior of this former Methodist Church/school. A listed classical building it is a good fit for the ethos of the practice. To the interior we took a more radical contemporary approach.  With glass walled offices and a flying stairs (inspired by M.C Escher 1951 – House of Stairs).

Our approach to the fabric of the building has been to introduce dry lining with high performing insulation and install air source heat pumps that provides both heating and air conditioning.

Despite its historic appearance the result is an energy efficient modern office. It was recognised by the Civic Society with an architectural award for ‘Outstanding work to an existing Building’.
